Debt Free America

Imagine...a whole country of people where not a single person is living in debt. Not just free, but debt free--this would be an ideal, debt free America. We know, we know...impossible. There are just too many people who are too deep in debt and have a tendency to assume more of it. But today's debt-ridden American is a lot more conscious of their financial holes. We understand the dangers of debt more clearly, and as a whole we are more determined to go debt free now than ever before.

Making a Dash for a Debt Free America

In oder for a debt free America to actually come into being, we would have to act quickly, we'd have to act fast, and we would have to work together to all solve this problem:

That means no more lenders offering high-cost services designed to drag people even further into debt.
It means no more careless of deficit spending - knowing our financial means and living within them.
A debt free America means savings, thrift, caution - all things completely alien to Americans today.

There is so much competition going on - so much admiration and the forever I want what they have that a debt free America would probably end up taking more energy that we all have as a whole. But hey, why not give it a shot? Isn't a debt free country worth it?

The Result of a Unified Debtless Front

If this really was a debt free America there would be a lot less poor people. But there would also be a lot less of the rich, and these greed-hounds don't like to part with their lovely money. A debt free country would be an egalitarian country - and America might be the only place in the world where this might happen. But convincing the rich and powerful to give up large portions of their estates to help the other guys become debt free might prove impossible. But we'll keep on dreaming, and maybe someday a person will be measured not by their wallet, but by their contributions to the greater good ( ha ha! What is this, Russia?).
